Design Your Ideal Life

With Whitney Keyes, marketing genius extraordinaire
Fremont

Whitney and I are putting together a six session class designed to help you figure out how to solve that most important design program (according to information architect Saul Wurman): how to design your life so you can do what you love all of the time. You'll learn how to identify your true passions, explore areas of resistance, remove obstacles and design a more rewarding life.

Writing Family History
February 23 – April 27
An online class through writers.com

A ten-week online class for writers who have already done a substantial amount of research, and need encouragement to put family stories on paper (or the web) so they can be shared with others. For more information or to register, go to www.writers.com

Preview of Spring

Deep Revision
At Richard Hugo House, Capitol Hill
Thursdays, 4 to 6 PM, April 9 – May 14, $215/$193.50

For writers who have already produced a rough draft, this class offers the opportunity to revise and polish a complete essay or memoir. We'll begin with an overview, examining themes and structure, then tighten our focus to look at the dynamics of each scene, the shape of each paragraph and the efficacy of each sentence. We'll discuss publication strategies so writers are ready to pitch their work at summer conferences. The goal is to have an essay or book proposal ready to submit.

You can register for this class now by clicking here.

Non-Fiction Book Proposal
On campus at the University of Washington
Tuesday evenings, 6:30 PM to 8;30 PM, April 14 to May 19

This is my famous class that has launched many of the success stories I feature in my newsletter. If you have an idea for a non-fiction book, this six-week class will help you clarify your idea, identify what's unique about your book, research and analyze the market, develop a plan to reach your audience and create an overview of your book. In-class writing exercises, discussions and homework assignments provide support and structure as you put assemble a complete proposal. Most non-fiction books--from self-help to narrative nonfiction, from travel to memoir--are sold on the basis of a proposal.

Students who have taken this class previously are welcome to take this class again for free, so put these dates on your calendar if you are interested and write me to get the location. New students will have to wait until the Spring catalog for the Experimental College is posted on March 16.

If these times & topics don’t address your needs, I am also available for manuscript consultation & individual coaching.
