Curt and I will be talking about and reading from our Barking Detective mystery series between 1 and 2 30 PM along with our friend and fellow dog lover, Tracy Weber, author of the Downward Dog mystery series, who writes about a yoga teacher and her lovable German Shepherd. Luckily I don’t think Tracy’s dog (also a German Shepherd—funny how that works!) will be coming along to the bookstore because Pepe Fitzgerald (the Chihuahua who inspired the Barking Detective series) is making an appearance and he does not play nice with other dogs. But he is always happy to meet his people fans. Ten authors are participating in this event which takes place between 10 AM and 4 PM. For the complete line-up, go here
Deep Revision WorkshopSaturday, July 18, 4 to 5:30 Pacific Northwest Writers Conference Hilton Seattle Airport Conference Center
During this one-and-a-half hour version of my six-week class, I’ll focus on helping writers get a clear vision of their manuscripts. Too often we start the revision process by working on sentences. In this session, in which we will do some writing exercises, we’ll be looking at theme, audience, purpose, genre, and narrative structure, as aspects of a book to consider before developing a plan for approaching the scene and sentence level stages of revision.
